New Combichrist album, One Fire, out June 7th
Combichrist recently announced details regarding the release of their upcoming ninth full-length album, One Fire, scheduled for release on June 7th, 2019 via Out of Line Music. Beginning today, One Fire is available for pre-order via all major digital retailers. In addition, the band is streaming “Hate Like Me”! Pre-order One Fire and stream “Hate Like Me” now via Amazon.

Combichrist mastermind Andy LaPlegua says about ‘Hate Like Me‘ “We all used to be so full of passion. For music, for love, for… hate. What happened to you? You used to hate like me.”
Andy LaPlegua says One Fire is a progression in sound in comparison to past releases, and that he referred back to his roots during the writing process. “I feel the goal with every album until now has been to push the sound further,” says LaPlegua. “That said, with this album, I have gone back in time and used everything I’ve learned over the last 15 years, and taken inspiration from all my favourite elements of the COMBICHRIST evolution.” While the purely industrial metal album is full of constant aggression, it’s meant to be therapeutic for all. The album puts a focus on hidden illnesses, such as mental illness – something that he feels society should be paying more attention to. Pain doesn’t always manifest on the surface.
LaPlegua adds, “The album is very much meant to be a social commentary, putting focus on mental illness and rebellion. While physical damage is accepted and very obvious in our society, hidden health problems, such as mental illness, are regarded as ‘just being in your head’. I’m trying to let the listener into the mind of someone who’s struggling to get by every day.”
One Fire features several special guest contributions, including vocal offerings from Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory) on ‘Guns at Last Dawn’, which was also co-written/mixed by Gigantor of hardstep drum and bass group Evol Intent. ‘Last Days Under the Sun’ was also co-written/mixed by Daniel Myer of German electronic project Haujobb.
One Fire also features an utterly mind-bending, orchestrally-fuelled cover of the Dead Kennedy‘s classic ‘California Über Alles’. “”I discovered Dead Kennedy’s when I was 9 years old, and they changed my life completely,” says Andy LaPlegua. “I’ve always wanted to cover California Über Alles, and with the world the way it is right now and with the current political climate, it just felt perfect to do it right now.”
