Slipknot’s Corey Taylor talks masks, the next album, Stone Sour, legends in metal, Vocal warm ups and a whole lot more.
Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour did a Q+A before the Kerrang awards, you can watch the full video below. Taylor covers a wide range of subjects including revealing that Slipknot have a demo of 16 tracks and are aiming to record them in January with the new album appearing later in the year. He also discussed people he considers to be legends in metal, vocal warm ups, his favourite book and his least favourite of his Slipknot masks.
Taylor indicated that the new album would be “Iowa levels of heavy” which isn’t surprising as he’s said in recent interviews that the next album’s lyrical content is very raw and feels like early Slipknot material. The new songs have been partially inspired by Taylor’s battle with Depression, an illness he’s suffered with for his whole adult life and says he has had, “a heavy couple of years”.
Slipknot’s last album .5: The Gray Chapter was released in 2014, meaning that if the next album is released next year then it’ll have been five years between them. Next year is also the 20th anniversary of Slipknot’s self titled first album.
