Carpenter Brut creates disco version of Dance Macabre as Rats gets knocked off the top spot.
After coming under fire for their latest album, Prequelle, being quite disco inspired in places, Ghost have doubled down by releasing a disco remix of the already-very-disco song Dance Macabre. The remix was handled by French synthwave artist Carpenter Brut who said,
“I’ve been a big fan of Ghost since their beginning and when I had the opportunity to open for the band in 2016, I was super excited. Last April, I received an email from [Cardinal Copia] himself asking if I would remix Dance Macabre, and of course I accepted. I wanted to bring a funky and disco touch, not just confine myself to the pure synthwave style that would have been expected, but to make this remix a disco rock song and bring out the pop side of the band that is always underlying in their music.”
In other Ghost news, Rats has been dethroned as Halestorm‘s Uncomfortable has taken the number 1 spot on Mainstream Rock Singles chart, ending Ghost‘s seven week run. Last week Ghost set the record for most weeks at number 1 in 2018.
Ghost will return to the UK on September 9th for a one off gig at London’s Royal Albert Hall, one of Cardinal Copia‘s dream venues.
