The Teal Album has a rather odd selection of covers.
Only last week we posted about Weezer having their finger on the pulse when it comes to marketing and now they’ve surprise released a cover album. Usually surprise releases don’t do well but Weezer are the kings of memes and marketing so it’s no surprise that they are currently one of the top hashtags on Twitter with their release of ‘The Teal Album‘.
‘The Teal Album‘ channels the style of Miami Vice and features 12 covers of songs that 70’s, 80’s and 90’s kids fondly remember –
01 Africa (Toto)
02 Everybody Wants to Rule the World (Tears for Fears)
03 Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) (The Eurythmics)
04 Take On Me (a-ha)
05 Happy Together (The Turtles)
06 Paranoid (Black Sabbath)
07 Mr. Blue Sky (Electric Light Orchestra)
08 No Scrubs (TLC)
09 Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
10 Stand By Me (Ben E. King)
You can listen to previews of the songs below.
It’s also worth a read of the album notes for some hilarity in typical Weezer fashion.
On March 1st Weezer will release an album of brand new material called ‘The Black Album‘ which includes singles ‘Zombie Bastards‘ and ‘Can’t Knock The Hustle‘
